“Oz The Great and Powerful” opened this past weekend, seting an opening weekend record for 2013 by bringing in $80.2 million, according to an article on TVGuide.com.
According to the article, this is the strongest debut for a movie since “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” brought in $84 million when it opened in December 2012.
