Mayor Kevin Johnson addresses the community on the “State of Education”
The Sacramento NAACP and sponsor Hewlett-Packard (HP) invite the community to join us for the 29th Annual Sacramento NAACP Prayer Breakfast on April 22, 2011 at the Radisson Hotel located at 500 Leisure Lane in Sacramento, California. The event will begin at 7:00 a.m. Honorable Mayor Kevin Johnson, City of Sacramento, will deliver the keynote speech addressing the community on the “State of Education” and the impact the budget cuts and deficit will have on opportunities to receive equal, and quality education within the local public school system. With recent cuts to the budget by the State and the County, it has had a huge impact on the schools predominately attended by our high risk, low-income children and families. Mayor Johnson’s speech will be followed by a panel discussion with key religious leaders to include:
- Pastor Alice Banks, Christian Fellowship Ministry Church
- Pastor Arthur David, Faith Fellowship Community Church
- Pastor Anthony Wallace, New Direction Life Center
- Minister Kenneth Mohammed, Nation of Islam
- Reverend Tammie Denyse, St. Andrews A.M.E. Church
Additionally, the Sacramento NAACP will also recognize key members in the community for their hard work and dedication to the civil rights movement. Come see who will receive the coveted D. D. Mattocks Achievement Award. There will be entertainment and raffle prizes.
