Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a blanket ban on evictions stemming from COVID-19 measures Friday, making statewide a policy some local jurisdictions had already adopted.

In the executive order, Newsom said the order would be good through May 31, which likely gives renters at least a two-month reprieve from being unable to make rent as result of measures such as the state’s stay-in-place mandate.
