Two churches have figured prominently in the news this week.

The experiences of seeing them – even though linked by George Floyd, who was killed in the custody of Minneapolis police – could not have been more different.

On Monday, President Donald Trump forcefully cleared a crowd of peaceful protesters in Washington, D.C., so he could pose for pictures with a Bible in front of historic St. John’s Church, which was damaged by fire during protests the night before.

On Thursday, in a sanctuary at North Central University in Minneapolis, Floyd’s friends and family remembered him in the first of several planned memorials.

The juxtaposition was not lost on the Rev. Al Sharpton, who delivered a fiery eulogy.
