New Book Dives Into Hip-Hop’s Connection To Past

Hip-hop artists stereotypical gimmick to entertain their fans may be the new minstrels, and it might just be OK. And that’s not in jest.

According to a recently published book, “Darkest America: Black Minstrelsy From Slavery to Hip-Hop,” written by authors Yuval Taylor and Jake Austen, both Chicago journalists, say this all for the best.
