(Sacramento, Calif.) — ARTISTS IN ACTION! is an online program with interviews and work from each of the Artist Corps teams. Theater, Storytelling/Poetry, Visual Art, Live Streaming, Music, Video, and Photography focus on how over 40 artists responded in moments of national crisis.

Impressive in the variety of artistic media and perspective, the Artist Corps responds in real-time to a national and global tragedy, showing how art has an important role setting a cultural tone and providing poetic language as we all attempt to define historic moments like COVID-19.

Marie Acosta, Director of the Artist Corps commented: “Given the positive response to the productions we launched in November, we have expanded online access with statewide partners making these important messages widely available and do our part to combat the spread of COVID-19.”

Julie Baker, Executive Director of Californians for the Arts commented: “We are thrilled to partner with the Sacramento Artists Corps and California’s Latino Arts Network to magnify the critical role artists and cultural organizations play in our community’s health and wellness. Programs such as ARTISTS IN ACTION! value and recognize the transformational impact of artists as essential workers to our economy and to the social and emotional wellbeing of every community member and should be modeled throughout the state.”

Rebecca Nevarez, Director, California Latino Arts Network stated, “Artists chart ways forward. Now in 2021, as we continue to tackle unjust systems and the pandemic, it is critically important to amplify the work and voices of California’s dynamic and diverse artistic community.”

Artists in Action! will be streamed online on the group’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/sacartistcorps – on various dates in January and February.
