Morning Power Outage in Downtown Sacramento

SMUD experienced a transformer failure in our downtown network vault around midnight on Thursday, May 19 resulting in a power outage for about 650 customer meters. Crews are actively working to restore power safely and quickly with an estimated restoration time between 9 and 11 a.m..

The outage is impacting buildings in the downtown area east and north of the Capitol and south of F between 13th and 23rd Streets. If customers work in this area, they should reach out to their employer to check on the status of power in their work facility.

SMUD is working proactively with customers impacted by the outage, and Commercial customers are being contacted and arrangements made on a case-by-case basis to provide additional support as needed. SMUD is also coordinating with the city of Sacramento, Regional Transit and other community partners for outreach and support.

Further updates will be provided as necessary.

SMUD appreciates our customers’ patience as we make repairs and restore power and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
