Black Marriage Day will be celebrated for the ninth year on Sat-3/26. It is celebrated annually at locally sponsored events hosted by faith-based and community groups in March. Starting with only 30 cities in 2003, hundreds of local sponsors plan to celebrate Black Marriage Day 2011 to highlight the benefits of marriage, pay tribute to successful marriages, and to promote marriage in the Black Community. This year’s national celebration of marriage is themed “Married and Proud of It” in honor of those couples who daily demonstrate the benefit of strong marriages. Fortune School has been approved to establish 5 charter schools in Sacramento County over the next 5 years. The first school will open August 17, 2011, with 160 students in grades K, 1, 2 and 3, in South Sacramento. The school will grow a grade level each year until it reaches 485 students in grades K through 8. Attend a meeting to: Learn about the school model and the student enrollment process.
