This week is Black Maternal Health Week, a time to highlight the increased risks that Black women face during both pregnancy and postpartum.

To learn more about the warning signs and how to lower those risks, Dr. Neeoma Ojiaku with Mercy San Juan joined KCRA 3 on Wednesday to answer some helpful questions.

Ojiaku spoke on why Black women face higher risks during pregnancy and postpartum and some of the warning signs to watch for. She also talked about what women can do to help catch some of these complications earlier.
