Let’s Amplify Our Voices and Fight for Our Health
Today marks the final day of Black Health Equity Advocacy Week (May 5–9) and we’re closing with this clear charge!
At California Black Health Network (CBHN), we believe that real change requires more than raising awareness — it demands action. Right now, decisions at both the state and federal levels threaten to reverse progress in health equity for Black Californians. This includes potential cuts to Medi-Cal (Medicaid), Covered CA (Affordable Care Act), Medicare, food assistance programs, maternal health protections, and rollbacks that impact community-based health programs. Here’s what’s at stake in three key areas in California:

This moment calls for collective power and strategic advocacy. That’s why we’re focusing on key legislative districts where your voice can have a direct impact. We need people in and beyond these communities to take action — write, call, email, or fax these legislative offices. The more they hear from us, the harder it becomes to ignore our voices.
Here’s how you can take action today:
- Reach out to these legislators – Urge them to vote against budget cuts that will harm our communities
- Make it personal – Share your lived experience to drive empathy and action
- Share the message – Use #BHEAW2025 and #WeveGotThePower to Amplify Our Voices!
- Become a Black Health Network Member – Help shape the future of health policy for Black Californians
Let’s close this week strong. For more on how to take action, visit Fight For Our Health‘s:
